Venus and Mars in Aries

First of all – a very Happy New Chinese Year of the Goat!!

This symbol seems to me to reflect the energies of Capricorn, so we can look forward to a year of slow and steady growth winning the race. However, it is important to realise that Pluto is placed in Capricorn, so this could influence the development of the period for China itself. Maybe the unrest that both Uranus and Pluto are creating for the rest of the world will destabilise China’s structures in an unexpected way. We will, as always, have to wait and see.

It is a strange phenomenon that we are experiencing with the New Moons right now, as they are occurring on the final minutes of the sign. Yesterday’s all important New Moon for China fell at 29AQ60, which means the final minutes of Aquarius, a bat squeak away from entering Pisces and causing  the Chinese a long wait for their New Year to start.  We have to ask ourselves if this New Moon casts its influence back into AQ or  forward into PI? The next New Moon is at 29PI, an Eclipse, on 20th March. The Moon’s motion then begins to speed up and meets earlier with the Sun on each subsequent New Moon, by a degree or two – moving from 28 degrees in April to 26 degrees in June.

Just to note that despite the ceasefire in Ukraine it seems to have broken down already. Here in the UK we have had a 2nd visit from two Russian warplanes off our South West coast. Hmmmm – one does wonder what is going on. All willreally hot up with the Eclipse on 20th March. See last week’s article expanding this idea.

I will be considering in your Zodiac Signs this week from the viewpoint of Venus and Mars.

Feminine Venus and masculine Mars are within the margin of conjunction and will be together for the next 4 days or so as they enter Aries on Friday 20th February. Mars leaps in first and Venus hurries after him, not wanting to be left alone without him. Venus is the planet of peace and reconciliation and Mars isn’t – Mars is about action, decisiveness, pugnaciousness and downright strong-mindedness. And they are together in Aries, Mars‘ own sign -very comfortable for Mars, not so much for Venus, who prefers discussion over action.

And yet, they come together at the first couple of degrees of Aries, the point of Spring, sowing seeds, beginnings and a sense of something stirring beneath the soil – in the Northern Hemisphere at least. With Mars ready to go! go! Venus will have her work cut out to hold him back from grabbing his sword and fighting the good fight.

Venus looks at our talents and what we value most about ourselves, our core attributes and our desire for the stability to develop them. Mars pulls at the bit in order to be moving, making decisions and then acting upon them. As I write this I can hardly sit still, so fired up am I with the energy – thank heavens for Venus or this article would never get finished!

Right now these two are combining through their conjunction and each one of us will be in a position where we can make decisions for ourselves based on our core values and creative urges. Then Venus moves quickly on to leave Aries and enter her own sign Taurus on the 17th March. Mars leaves Aries on 31st March.

Aries : 21st March – 20th April: Well aren’t you the lucky one? New beginnings and lots of creative action will be the order of the next 6 weeks that Mars occupies your 1st House of “me, me, me” and Venus will be pulling at you through your relationships and your need for security. You will have to weigh up whether those around you are truly supporting your creative urges and then maybe it’s decision time! It could be time to move on and stand alone in your desire to save the world through your actions and desire for peace. Any new people who come along after that will likely be more open to your ideas and willing to run along beside you. Nice….

Taurus: 20th April – 20th May: Your ruler Venus with Mars in your 12th House of hidden matters, spiritual yearnings and  desire for a peaceful, secure existence, will stir up your energies in such a way that could prove to be stressful at first before settling down in some new pasture or mindset. Your need for creative expression will be idealised during this time so you will want the best for yourself – the best materials and technology – to aid production of your finest work. Venus also rules your 6th House of routines, niche market (if you’re self employed) and health matters, so may make you aware of the need to be less sedentary and more active – which can only improve your physical and mental health.

Gemini: 21st May – 21st June: Venus with Mars in your 11th House of groups and future aspirations can be a real boost to your social life. Your creativity will be sky high through the next few weeks and the urge of Mars will support you here. Your Geminian creativity is often most evident in your writing and communication skills – this could boost your teaching efforts, bringing you so many new ideas it can be hard to choose which to go with. Venus rules your 5th House of creativity and children – you may be able to reconcile some issues that you have had with your own or others’ offspring. This will ease tension for you and give you the break you need to get writing that novel, for example.

Cancer: 21st June – 23rd July:  Venus with Mars in your 10th House will activate your public profile, career and parental issues bringing you much action in the outside world. You may find that some ongoing struggle in your career can be overcome by the action of Mars and Venus’ sweet tongue negotiating for you. Your mind will certainly be on your parents and their needs during this time – so you will be striving to find a balance in your life up to the end of March. As Venus also rules your 11th House of friendships, you may find that you have great social support in your time of need. So much so that you could even start a focus or neighbourhood group that highlights your needs and those of others.

Leo: 23rd July – 23rd August: Venus with Mars in your 9th House of higher education, learning for pleasure, travel and philosophy will open you up to many new opportunities beyond your normal scope of life. You may meet people from foreign lands who stimulate your mind and open you up to a new world view. This is an exciting month for you, with so much positive energy coming to you – harmony in action – and the desire to “do” something meaningful with it. You may be offered a trip abroad for your career or a new training course which will certainly boost your potential in the workplace. You may find that you will use some of your experiences to write, teach,  speak or lecture in your locale.

Virgo: 23rd August – 23rd September: Venus with Mars in your 8th House can have you heading to the accountant to help you clarify some details in your taxes and insurance policies. Your life may have changed recently bring a need for you to have tighter control over your outgoings for a while. A training course could bring you a much needed boost together with a possibility of using the information gained to begin a whole new way of working and being in the world. Relationships could be in your face this month, too, with someone pulling you back to the past. This is a time of endings with the new beginnings still in seed form – wait until april until you make decisions about other people.

Libra: 23rd September – 23rd October: Your ruling planet Venus with Mars in your 7th House of partnerships and relationships focuses you on what you love doing best – harmonising, balancing opposites, and some good old fashioned love affairs. The energy of seeds sprouting beneath the ground is pulling you into a whole new life of relating, growing, loving and learning. You will be working hard to balance your personal needs and desires with those of the others around you – and isn’t this what came into this world to do? Venus also rules your 8th House of taxes, joint resources (of all kinds – not just money) and inheritance – questions of how to best use them to give you the best outcome.

Scorpio: 23rd October – 22nd November: Venus with Mars in your 6th House of routines, everyday matters, work, employees and niche markets, for the self-employed will bring you opportunities to focus on how you serve others through your chosen field of work. Your relationships, business partners and clients will suddenly awaken to give you a good basis to go forward into the future. It is often difficult for a fixed sign like Scorpio to cope with the Cardinal energies of Aries, which can result in resistance and stress. A useful routine for you would to be to take a meditation course and learn to go with the flow and give up resisting life – the past is over and it’s time to live in the now. (I speak from experience here!) Your career and public profile will profit from all of the foregoing – yay!!

Sagittarius: 22nd November – 22nd December:  Venus with Mars in your 5th House of creativity, open-heartedness, children and pleasure brings you a wonderful month of all of those things. This is a period of good luck for you – whichever form it takes in your life. Events around your children will bring you an opportunities to bond with them and enjoy their being in your world. Mixing that with Venus ruling your 11th House of future prospects, new social events and friendships,  and also ruling your 6th House of health matters and niche markets for the self-employed, it is clear that you will be busy shining your positive attitude out there in your social life that clients will beat a path to your door.

Capricorn: 22nd December -20th January: Venus with Mars in your 4th House bring domestic matters to the forefront of your life – you may be moving house, redecorating or extending to home a parent or returning children. This is a busy time for you especially with the Year of the Goat beginning today, you will have a sense of responsibility on your shoulders. However, your career will bring an opportunity to smooth someone’s ruffled feathers at work and some peace can prevail. Venus rules your 5th House of children so this is the month that they will be exploring new life and freedoms. The inner peace that you reach with this will create an open heartedness from them towards you. Nice!

Aquarius: 20th January – 19th February: Venus with Mars in your 3rd House of neighbourhood events, siblings and all manner of communication necessitating many short journeys for you promises a busy time. You may find that you chair a group meeting designed to have a positive effect on your locale – or that you actually start such a group for the betterment of those around you.  This could be a good time to dig out a manuscript for a TV show or a science fiction novel from the back of that old drawer – you never know. With Venus also ruling your  9th House of publishing, higher learning and philosophy,  you could find that your ideas are much in demand.

Pisces: 19th February – 20th March: Venus with Mars in your 2nd House  of personal finances and core values can create a sense of urgency within you that may owe more to your imagination than reality. It would be useful to meditate and find an inner balance so that you can gain a sense of equilibrium. Venus has been in your sign for the last 3 weeks and is now leaving you feeling a little empty – it’s time to really examine what is important to you and act on it. You may have to take some short journeys this month to visit a sibling, friend or cousin who may have some interesting ideas for you to pursue. An inheritance may demand that you do something meaningful with it – so it’s not all bad.
