I am always interested in how past events are picked up by the planetary movements in the present. Some of you may remember my article on the murder of Stephen Lawrence and my exploration of that in the light of ongoing transits as I wrote.

Uranus Pluto strike again – once more with the banking crisis. Pluto stirs up the murk from the bottom of the pond and Uranus shines a headlight on it so that we can all see what’s been going on over the last few years. This time it’s the turn of Barclays Bank and the LIBOR and Barclaycard credit rate fixing between themselves and other banks. This could run for some time because the first Barclaycard to be issued in the UK was – wait for it! – in 1966 under the aegis of the UR/PL conjunction of the mid-sixties.

Saturn changed direction around the time of the Barclays event adding weight to the importance of it all. This has been a long transit of Saturn through Libra, the sign where he is best placed, it will be less so when he enters Scorpio in October, so heads could roll. It may all take longer than we would wish for any kind of clarity to be seen by us, the unhappy general public, as Saturn does tend to slow things down

Now it’s the turn of the infamous Moors Murders – said at the time to be the crime of the century – perpetrated on 5 children over a 2 year span between July 1962 and October 1965. The bodies were buried on the wild and barren Lancashire Moors, some were never retrieved, and it is suggested that there could be more. Pluto may bring them to light.

The two murderers were Ian Brady and Myra Hindley – brought to trial, found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment on 6th May, 1966. The previous year, 1965, saw the abolition of the death penalty in the UK, so they were sentenced to life imprisonment. Hindley died in 2002 and Brady had a seizure yesterday (3rd July) and is in hospital right now.

During the sixties there was a long conjunction of Uranus and Pluto, so these murders took place under their influence. Pluto was a strong element in the relationship between Hindley and Brady – Hindley’s Sun being exactly placed on Brady’s Pluto, indicating that he fascinated her and maybe did what Pluto is famous for doing to young maidens, i.e. pulled her completely under his influence. And I have to say that many ordinary folks live together happily with this aspect between them and do not behave badly at all.

It is the position of the Uranus/Pluto square now that has triggered off the 1962-66 and will likely coincide with the end Brady’s life. It is as if the long memory bank of time has reached out and tapped Brady on the shoulder. It indicates to me that he was the real force behind the murders with Hindley as his accomplice rather than the other way round. He may last a few months yet, only succumbing under the Solar Eclipse in November on Myre Hindley’s Moon. Time moves both backwards and forwards, as we can see.

I imagine that alongside this will be a renewal of public interest in repealing the abolition of the death penalty. We will see.

On lighter and more personal note – I have started an in-depth study of the Yi Jing, the ancient Chinese book of changes, with Hilary Barrett, author of a very beautifully presented book on same. It is a year long course and as the Yi was my first dip into all things mystical, I thought it timely to get into it again.
