Mercury Retrograde 12th March to 4th April

It’s Mercury going backwards time again! So watch out for crossed communications and lost mail – which will be unravelled in about 3 weeks time.

The actual change of direction was Monday 12th March at 7h49. I went along to my local bank at about 10 AM that day and asked my nice clerk how their morning was going so far. He replied that it had been a nightmare as the ATM machine had packed up and they had people queuing around the block getting more and more angry and frustrated.

How typical of Mercury, I thought, as ruler of the market place, changing into his trickster mode by virtue of his change of direction and ensuring maximum disruption for all concerned.

I always advise my business clients to double check everything that they send out or buy during this time as Mercury can mysteriously get into the works and cause havoc. I also supply them with an annual list of these periods so that they are forewarned and thus take evasive action. Except, of course, those who were born with Mercury going retrograde anyway – they seem to leap into creative and successful action during such times, like Steve Jobs, for example, who always launched his new products under a retrograde Mercury as it matched his natal phase.

Mercury is now at the beginning of Aries and was heading towards a challenging aspect to Pluto, when he suddenly remembered that he had heard Uranus saying something when he went past him a few days earlier i.e. 5-7 March. And that’s where he’s heading now to see what on earth he had overheard, and then on back into Pisces to make an aspect to Venus the peacemaker to find out what she thinks. When he changes direction in April, he will then leap forward to check up with Uranus and get very clear about all the technical details before challenging Pluto with the information. All of this would seem to indicate that we, the public, could hear some kind of disclosure about power politics and technology that may be uncomfortable listening for us towards the end of April. We’ll just have to see what happens.

With the above in mind, I see that our PM is visiting Barak Obama as I write this. Now one of the interesting features of astrology is that it is possible to superimpose the birth chart onto a map of the world to see where on the planet we could express ourselves best. For Obama, it is his Mars line going through West Iran, near enough to Tehran. I have noticed that wherever a head of state has his/her Mars line is where they are likely to stage a war. For example, Margaret Thatcher has hers going down directly to the Falkland Islands; Ronald Reagan had his Mars through Central America; David Cameron, like Obama has his through Iran. Uncomfortable information – Mercury/Pluto perhaps? Oddly enough, Venus rules Cameron’s Ascendant and Uranus rules Obama’s – Mercury is a very busy planet right now, trotting back and forth over them both through the next couple of weeks.

Mercury is often retrograde when major political meetings occur – for example, the Peace Process with Clinton, Ehud Barak and Arrafat was held under such a one – and look how quickly the agreement changed. And now with Cameron and Obama and our troops in Afghanistan – what will come of it all, I wonder?
