Lunar Eclipse Saturday 10th December, 2011
This eclipse follows on from the Solar eclipse a couple of weeks ago – for more information on that, please look at my posting of 25th November entitled Busy Skies…. , as it explains how it could affect you over the next 6 months or so.
A solar eclipse occurs when the New Moon, i.e. Sun and Moon together in the same degree of the Zodiac, is also placed on the same latitude on the Ecliptic (the apparent path of the Sun around the Earth). When this happens, the light of the Sun is extinguished for a brief period of time. The same phenomenon happens either two weeks before or after this – the only difference being that it is the light of the Moon that is extinguished. Eclipses usually come in pairs – occasionally in threes – and go around the Zodiac backwards, to recur around 5 months later.
The importance of all this is that where these two celestial events are placed on an your chart or Zodiac sign will have some significance in your life over the following few months or years. I say ‘years’ as sometimes the event can be something like a birth or career change that can impact your entire future.
So, down to the nitty gritty – this Lunar Eclipse falls in the middle degrees of Sagittarius and challenges the predictions that I made a couple of weeks ago. As the Moon is directly opposite the Sun in the sky – i.e. it falls in Gemini – it will create a challenge, as the word implies; however, it is an aspect that creates space between you and the challenge itself, so offers you some negotiating space. This usually comes through your relationships.
Bearing all the above in mind, there follows a brief description of some of the things you can expect, sign by sign:
Aries : 21st March – 20th April: the previous Eclipse fell in your 9th Solar House of higher education, foreign affairs and intellectual pursuits. The Lunar Eclipse falls in your 3rd of concrete learning and self-expression. You may be challenged by others to ensure that you have all the information you need to make your next steps into the wider world – so brush up on your languages or formal qualifications and firm up your ideas. In laws may make demands on your time, too.
Taurus: 20th April – 20th May: the previous Eclipse fell in your 8th Solar House of shared resources, a challenging concept for you as you prefer to hold onto your own things. However, the Lunar Eclipse falls in your 2nd House of personal earnings, belongings and values. This period will see you being challenged by those closest to you to keep a little and give a little in order to achieve a balance that works for all of you.
Gemini: 21st May – 21st June: the previous Eclipse fell in your 7th Solar House of others in your life, partner, closest friends and business associates. The Lunar Eclipse falls in your 1st House of “Me! Me!” giving you some respite from all the running around fulfilling all their needs. What it is actually doing, of course, is forcing you to step back and look at how much you do for everyone else to the detriment of your own time and energy. Time to take a stand!
Cancer: 21st June – 23rd July: the previous Eclipse fell in your 6th Solar House of health and routines – in fact, while you are so good at nurturing others, you must now start to look after yourself. Now the Lunar Eclipse falls in your Solar 12th House of spirituality and imagination. Someone may challenge you to take a look at other ways of expressing your spirituality – such as meditating, writing poetry or even doing some caring work outside your own family circle.
Leo: 23rd July – 23rd August: the previous Eclipse fell in your 5th Solar House of creative ventures. The Lunar Eclipse falls in your 11th house of projects, friendships and hope in the future. Someone will challenge your creative output, which may sound as if they are criticising you. Get over it! They’re not – they are banging a stick to test its strength. Without this you won’t feel on firm ground in all the future projects that will arise from your fertile creative mind.
Virgo: 23rd August – 23rd September: the previous Eclipse fell in your 4th Solar House of home, family and tradition, ensuring that you are ready for any expansion in your domestic setting. The Lunar Eclipse falls in your 10th house of career meaning that the challenge for you will be to balance the needs of your employer or customers, if you are freelance, with those of your family. As the 4/10 is the parental axis, a parent may make demands on your energies that have you feeling stretched out.
Libra: 23rd September – 23rd October: the previous Eclipse fell in your 3rd Solar House of siblings, cousins and neighbours ensuring that you would be busy with their affairs. The Lunar Eclipse falls in your 9th house and may mean a stop on that trip abroad you wanted to make for your own pleasure and rest. You may be challenged to make a journey that will take you to a very different place than you expected. Finding a balance is as ever the life lesson for you to learn – so find a way to chill wherever you are and whatever others expect of you.
Scorpio: 23rd October – 22nd November: the previous Eclipse fell in your 2nd Solar House of personal finances and values, ensuring that a large part of your energy is put into earnings. The Lunar Eclipse falls in your 8th house of joint finances and resources, so the challenge for you is to balance the books by pooling all your resources – and that includes ideas of new ways of earning as well as money. Putting something away for a rainy day no matter how small could also be a useful thing to do.
Sagittarius: 22nd November – 22nd December: the previous Eclipse fell in your 1st Solar House of your desires and personal affairs. The Lunar Eclipse falls in your 7th house of relationships, so other people are likely to challenge you by saying “Can I come with you?” As Sagittarius dislikes being fenced in this could compromise your sense of freedom and make you hemmed in somewhat. As with all the other signs the name of the game is “Balance!” – so take some time off by yourself, and mix it with spending time with your loved ones.
Capricorn: 22nd December -20th January: the previous Eclipse fell in your 12th Solar House of spiritual matters and withdrawal from the madding crowd. However, with the Lunar Eclipse falling in your 6th house others around you, like coworkers and employees, will make it their mission to drag you out into the real world and make work related issues your priority. Older relatives may also make demands on your time – so this is the time to find a way of choosing when you fall in with everyone else and when you spend quality time meditating or reading.
Aquarius: 20th January – 19th February: the previous Eclipse fell in your 11th Solar House of future options and new social circles that would bring opportunities to widen your mental horizons. With the Lunar Eclipse falling in your 5th house of children, creativity and enjoyment, you may find that you have to tone down your high minded ideals in order to communicate with the very young – or even ordinary people! This could work in your favour however, as you get to test them all out in the real world first, before committing yourself to unworkable ideas.
Pisces: 19th February – 20th March: the previous Eclipse fell in your 10th Solar House of career and your professional life. With the Lunar Eclipse falling in your 4th House of family and the domestic front, you will be challenged by those closest to you to work out how much time you can give to it all. Life will make sure that you take care of all the details – I know, it’s not your favourite subject – and by so doing slow down all the frantic stuff that’s being going on for you. Meditation and going to the movies can help you relax – as your home life won’t let up for quite some time.
