Every month a New Moon occurs – this means that the Sun and Moon occupy the same degree of the Zodiac. When they are on the same latitude (somewhere out there in space) it creates a Solar Eclipse. On the 1st January this year the Moon is New which is fairly unusual, it happens every 19 years – other occurrences of this Soli/Luna event are at the same time of day GMT 11h15; 21h15 around the globe in Australia; and earlier in the morning across North America – on New Year’s Day. Previous years were 1995, 1976 and 1957, etc.
However, what marks this year’s New Moon out as different, is that it falls within seconds of Pluto’s position with Mercury 2 degrees ahead. The Moon will go over the Sun, Pluto square Mars in Libra then catch up with Mercury over a 4 hour period. This is big stuff, particularly for the UK, as it is the 113th birthday of the United Kingdom 1st January,1801. Although, in all the nations that celebrate the New Year this is the year that we will look back on and remember as the beginning of something major – who knows what?
Wherever on your chart this New Moon with Pluto square Mars falls it will herald a year of deep and powerful transformational activity. For all those of you who have birthdays around the 1st to the 4th of January/April/July and October, it will be a particularly intense springtime/autumn time depending on which hemisphere of Earth you happen to be living on. These 4 above are the Cardinal signs – Capricorn/Aries/Cancer and Libra and as such represent beginnings and fast changes for those signs.
The 1st to the 4th of February/May/August and November it will be a time of real resistance to the changes, a slowing down of your energies as you work hard to keep things staying the same while feeling the pressure around you. These are the 4 Fixed signs Taurus/Leo/Scorpio and Aquarius, which represent slow shifts and deep resistance all the while.
The 1st to the 4th of March/June/September and December will be a time of great excitement and rushing about. You will likely notice that no matter how hard you work to move things along, they will take their time to reach fulfilment – delays and effort will be the order of the next few months for you Pisces/Gemini/Virgo and Sagittarius.
Because the planets are particularly active in March/April of 2014, we could see more extreme action in the Middle East and China and japan, for example. I will develop these ideas more fully over the next few articles – as it IS New Year’s Day coming up in a few hours. I just wanted to give you a flavour of what is going on around you.
As with all these intense energies happening “out there” we often notice that the weather patterns seem to be the harbingers of national then personal changes. And certainly here in the UK we are experiencing a major weather pattern of severe high winds and floods. It was the same in 1976 when we had high winds and floods across the UK on 2nd January followed by severe draughts through the summer months, with water rationing the main theme. A good book to read on this subject is “How to survive a heatwave” by Maggie O’Farrell – she describes the summer of 1976 to a tee! I loved it and this is why I recommend it.
