Making yourself attractive
We often hear young people saying that they’re going out for the evening “on the pull” – which translates as going out to find someone to have some fun with. In other words, they are going to attract someone into their life – maybe for the short, very short or even longer term.
And this is what attraction means – to pull towards – in both directions. So, how attractive are you? If you were going out for the evening “on the pull” how would you prepare yourself? Assuming it’s a weekend, would you just keep your day clothes on and leave the house in the state you had been in all day – digging the garden, cleaning out the kitchen? Or would you shower, put your on make-up/shave, and then get out that special outfit, that you may have just bought that day? Of course you would – you would want to look your best – knowing that everybody else has done the same.
When we teach the LOA, we always say that what you want, wants you. It’s like falling in love at first sight and all that lovely romantic stuff. So, in order to be attractive in the LOA sense, you have to pay as much attention to your attitudes as you would pay to your physical presentation, as if you were going out on the pull. Because, that’s what you’re doing. You’re actually attracting all the time, every second of the day, in your old slopping around clothes/attitudes. If you want to attract a new and different life, then you have to think, speak and act in an attractive way.
Most people who come to work one to one with me say they want to change their lives for the better. This usually means they’re not earning enough money to keep up with their spending. And I know how easy it is to do that! So, I begin by asking them to look at their lives from the outside – as if they were someone else, a stranger, who didn’t know all the “story” behind the situation. Then I ask them to think what kind of internal attitudes that stranger would imagine the owner of the life would hold. To put it bluntly, if you show me how you live, I can show you what you’re thinking – or have been thinking up to this point.
When we did our latest seminar, one of the delegates said that she was very uncomfortable with the emphasis on money in LOA work. A good, and very British comment! And yet, we need to ask ourselves – is it our honest desire to attract poverty, powerlessness and stuckness? Surely a good and productive lifestyle suggests that there is enough money to go around? Having enough money offers us all the possibility of paying off credit cards, sleeping better at night – and maybe contributing more to your local economy by getting someone else to do those chores that keep you from living a more fulfilling life. And attracting more money means you can contribute even more to the outside world.
In classical astrology, Venus, the planet of attraction, beauty and relationships, is also associated with money – the sign and house your personal Venus falls in your birth chart can indicate a lot about your financial state. This indicates to me that the ancients knew a thing or two about the LOA and wealth – and now it’s your turn to become attractive through putting on the internal/mental glad rags and going out into life “on the pull” to attract the kind of life you really want to live! And remember – what you want, wants YOU!!
