As you must realise by now, astrology is my passion. I love watching the world outside respond unknowingly to events as they unfold, believing them to be random acts of irritation. And as I do, I think how much easier life would be if everyone knew that what was irritating them was predictable and liveable with once they understood.

And irritation is the key here. Has your computer/smart phone/tablet/landline been going nuts these last few days? Have you “lost” that all important document, only to find it exactly where you thought it would be yet couldn’t see it?

This morning, I was due to Skype a client – the connection went through easily, but could I hear him? I could see him and watch his mouth moving, but I heard nothing. He called his server who insisted that all was well after exhaustive checks at his end. I knew that my Skype was fine as I had just used it elsewhere. Frustrating, but not life threatening.

On Monday morning Facebook crashed just as Mercury changed direction to go retrograde – typical ‘retro’ behaviour. Then yesterday Facebook decided, after much discussion, to allow horrible images and videos to be shown on their pages, saying that their members could make their own minds up to look or not. Images that show the worst side of Scorpio’s nature – and no prizes for guessing that Mercury is in Scorpio right now. Today, they’ve changed their minds and aren’t allowing them to be shown.

M Hollande, premier of France, decided a few days ago to expel a family of illegal Roma immigrants from his country. Then he changed his mind over the weekend and said that the children could come back to finish their education alone. They are in discussion as I write.

The financial lock-down in the US was finally agreed just before Mercury’s change to retrograde, and yet, there are threats to do it all again next spring. Let’s hope it’s not the last week of April ’14, because things are really “hot” over those few days. More on that nearer the time.

Here in Scotland, the major petro-chemical industry has announced closure today. Hmmm, I thought – let’s just wait and see. Nothing is set in stone during such times as these and we may even see a return to work within the next couple of weeks.

And that’s just for starters. Why not become an amateur astro-sleuth yourself and watch for the flip-flopping of events and decisions that are obviously due to Mercury’s whacky direction shifts over the next 3 weeks? At least it will alleviate your frustration and make you laugh (or groan).

Uranus/Pluto – again!

The two heavy weights that are dominating our financial and government lives at the moment (2010 – 2016 – we’re only in the middle!) are coming to face each other off again on the 1st November at 9 Aries (UR) and 9 Capricorn (PL), so we can expect further intensifying of the energies of profound change and the effects on all our lives. See above to the way Mercury, the smallest planet can bring changes in an in-your-face way – then imagine how our society can be reshaped by UR and PL. Look back to the mid-sixties for the same things that were changed and remoulded then. Nothing in our lives was the same afterwards, going in to the 70s. And even then, the shifting sands didn’t settle for another decade.

So that’s what we may expect – and, as I say, we’re only in the middle of the cycle. If we think that the change to our basic societies through the 60s, then it can’t be all bad going forward now, can it?

I notice that on 1st November, not only are UR and PL at 9 degrees of their signs, so are the Sun at 9 Scorpio, Mars at 9 Virgo and Chiron at 9 Pisces – that’s a lot of energy being focused on UR and PL from their friends, lending weight to their projects.

Then the Solar Eclipse follows on the 3rd November – I shall write about that nearer the time – i.e. next week’s pages.
