Cosmic Influences for Grown-ups – May/June 2008

Happy Birthday, Gemini!

Geminis have been going through a most interesting few years, since early in the century, really. With Uranus going through Pisces since 2003 and challenging your every idea about yourself, your purpose and your life’s path, you can be sure that you will renewed on many different levels of your life by the end of the period in 2011. So early Geminis made the changes at the beginning of the cycle and now it’s late Geminis (10th-21st June) that are doing so for the next 3 years.

These challenges fall mainly in the career and home areas of your life – career changes that say more about who you really are and a home makeover that expresses your inner values – don’t get stressed about any of this, just learn to listen to your feelings a little more rather than ignoring them. Instead of suffering nervous tension and burnout, take time out, walk, read and relax – try T’ai Ch’i, for example – it can all work wonders for your nervous system.

This month is an interesting one, as your ruling planet Mercury is going backwards in Gemini over the next 3 weeks. (For more insight on this please read this month’s blog article.) This means that you could receive news from an old friend from the past, lose your address book or have a telecom crash. Please make sure that you back up all your files, so that you are well protected just in case.

Mercury’s backwards motion stirs everything up for the next 21 days, however once he starts moving forwards again around the 19/20th June, you will begin to feel as if everyone around you understands you again. This 3 week period can be an excellent time to go through all your old files, paperwork, bills, etc and clear them up. Write the emails that have been hanging around, get clear about your financial situation, and throw out things that are no longer useful to you. Catch up with old friends, particularly old school and college friends – sit in the sun and enjoy the contact with them.

Any flashes of inspiration that come to you – please write them down – all writers carry a small booklet to note thoughts that cross their minds. Don’t just rely on your memory – it can be a most fickle friend – it is ruled by Mercury in his Trickster mode. Some of those flashes could be true strokes of genius – it would be a shame if someone else plucked them from the air and profited from them instead of you, because you thought you would remember.

Throughout July and August, you feel as if you are on a bit of a whirlwind tour, to be honest, with Mercury racing to catch up with sociable Venus, which he does in August. Then you are in for a fun-filled month of heavy socialising, holidaying and partying. By September all the three faster planets: Mercury, Venus and Mars meet in Libra – and can actually be seen in the evening sky. So this is a period of finding a way to balance out your needs with those of others, don’t get caught up in arguments that you may not win, and don’t make rash speculations on your finances.

Mercury changes direction by end September (again!) and slowly goes back through Libra for the entire month of October. Some decisions made in the heady days of early September may need to be rethought and maybe even jettisoned. A real attempt at inner balance would be useful for you. Try meditating.

During November and December, Mercury catches up with Mars again and they combine to put you under pressure to make your deadlines and get your paperwork up to date. Then in January, Mercury makes his third retrograde motion, this time in your 9th Solar

House. This is a good time for you to begin to ask the deeper questions about yourself, do some writing and maybe even start your own blog. Communication is the key for this month and February. Also good for long distance journeys for a spot of exploration.

Mid-March is a good period for you to take care of your health – take lots of supplements and go to the gym. You could feel quite low and need to do fun things to lift your spirit – at least you know it won’t be for long. April is a good steady month for you to work out your longer term needs and make five-year plans.
