Full Moon across Pisces/Virgo

Today’s blog is a bit of everything – the Full Moon across Pisces/Virgo and a new Sky Watch element for you to go out and gaze up at (at least in the Northern Hemisphere).

Moon in Virgo opposite Sun in Pisces – 18 Virgo/Pisces at 9h40 GMT 8th March, 2012

Full Moons are funny things, or at least they can have funny effects on us. Certainly it is accepted in the medical professions that we bleed more heavily when there is a Full Moon, for example. People can become more violent and hot under the collar also. Mystics teach us that it is easy to lose ourselves, i.e. become less conscious of ourselves, when the Moon is either New or Full. What I have observed is that sometimes we can become more emotional, more forgetful, speak more about our past, particularly our childhood. So, we can tend to slip out of the NOW into a dreamlike state – and it isn’t any particular Zodiac sign that the Moon is in. Sometimes we barely register it and other times: Can we get to sleep? Stop obsessing about something that happened years ago? No chance!

The main focus of a Full Moon is always the planet it sits beside – and in this case it is Mars on his backwards journey through Virgo. The time span is for the next two weeks. The areas of interest on your personal Solar chart will be ruled by Mars – in other words, wherever Aries and Scorpio fall in relation to your Zodiac sign, both ruled by Mars. Those among you who know their Ascendant or Moon sign can also read from those, as well.

Aries : 21st March – 20th April – The Full Moon across your 12th/6th Houses will bring an urge to maybe escape or chill out in some way, as the demands of other people on your energy will have been severe this last few weeks. You will be examining exactly what it is you want for your future, and thanks to Mars going retrograde, you will need to examine all your options very carefully. Also a time to look closely at your taxes, mortgages, etc.

Taurus: 20th April – 20th May – The Full Moon across your 11th/5th Houses – will bring relationships to the fore. Is a fun love affair on the point of becoming more serious than you would like right now? Would you rather have a friend than a partner – can they be united in one person? Could you take a mini-break to sort it out? This could also be a good time to de-clutter some of your attic and maybe your head to let the fresh air in.

Gemini: 21st May – 21st June – The Full Moon across your 10th/4th Houses – are you spending too much time at work and not enough at home? You may have taken your eye off the ball in your domestic situation and find that tempers are running a little short. A friend might want you to help out with a project that could give you a break and maybe teach you a new and very useful skill – it could even involve the whole family.

Cancer: 21st June – 23rd July – The Full Moon across your 9th/3rd Houses – this axis is all about communication and learning. You could be looking for a new course of study that would augment your career opportunities – or simply doing it for fun. Life can be a challenge right now for you so some lighthearted days would do you a power of good. A sibling may be full of some good ideas that you could perhaps plunder for yourself.

Leo: 23rd July – 23rd August – The Full Moon across your 8th/2nd Houses – this axis is all about finances, both personal and shared, that may need to be pooled over the next couple of weeks – just keep good records. You could spend time putting your home in order – maybe a spot of redecorating would lift your spirits. A home study course could extend your reach out into the wider world.

Virgo: 23rd August – 23rd September – The Full Moon across your 7th/1st Houses emphasises your partner’s needs over the next couple of weeks. You may find that your neighbourhood becomes a rich seam to plunder for ideas and even financial reward, although you may have to dip into your savings to get it up and running. A sibling may make a good suggestion on how to go about it.

Libra: 23rd September – 23rd October – The Full Moon across your 6th/12th Houses emphasises routine working and de-cluttering your personal space. You could be at the beginning of a niche marketing project that will need researching. You are full of ideas right now and have your pulse on your personal finances – just make sure that you are not spending your hard earned cash to bail a partner out.

Scorpio: 23rd October – 22nd November – The Full Moon across your 5th/11th Houses could indicate a creative venture that will involve some kind of group effort and that could challenge your determination to make it work out. You could be filled with energy for putting your passions into a whole new format that would need some details to be researched and rehearsed – good for your health, though.

Sagittarius: 22nd November – 22nd December – The Full Moon across your 4th/10th Houses that really pulls you in two opposite directions – on the one hand you want to be spending your energies on getting your home space looking as if you really do live there and on the other you want to be out in the world exploring your options. You may meet someone who offers you a new future, but you have to keep it quiet for a while.

Capricorn: 22nd December -20th January The Full Moon across your 3rd/9th Houses brings a lot of short journeys and making plans for long journeys later in the year. You are really looking towards the future now and making plans for domestic changes such as a house move. the 9th House is also about legal matters such as signing important documents and making major commitments for your future.

Aquarius: 20th January – 19th February – The Full Moon across your 2nd/8th Houses which involves your money with a partner. The emphasis is on taxes, mortgages and even legacies or shares that are maturing right now. You and a sibling may be brainstorming about how best to care for a parent. Careerwise you could be putting a lot of effort into research and analysis that could feel onerous in the short term but good in the longer term.

Pisces: 19th February – 20th March – The Full Moon across your 1st/7th Houses chimes with your need to follow your own star right now, which others will have their own ideas about that. Time to dig your heels in! You may be planning a journey abroad or a new training course that could cost more than you thought, but that could reward you greatly in the future.

Sky Views – a new and irregular article particle

The night sky is particularly interesting right now as above us in the Northern Hemisphere we have a wonderful evening conjunction of Venus and Jupiter setting just after the Sun has gone down – they will be exact on 14th March. On 22nd March, the Moon will join them both as a narrow crescent – and we will once again see the three Benefics (the good guys) together as we did on Jupiter on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th? The next New Moon, on March 22nd, will be with Mercury and not so spectacular, although the separating Venus-Jupiter conjunction will still be visible higher up in the western sky after sunset. We are certainly seeing the Benefics smiling on us. These rare enough events for us to see in the evening sky, so make the effort to see them.

My thanks to astrologer and friend Prudence Jones for part of the above paragraph and for giving me the idea.

When that is over, Mars rises large and bright in the East followed by a smaller Saturn. Mars always has a red or orange glow – this is due to the iron in his makeup.

NB – The way to tell the difference between a planet and a star is that a star twinkles, a planet doesn’t – it can look like an incoming plane, but if it doesn’t have lights on either side of it – it’s a planet, folks! And yes, I have made that very mistake when in Paris pointing Jupiter out to my awestruck astrology students as it came down to land at Charles de Gaulle airport!
