Happy Birthday Scorpio – Your Year Ahead

Intense, deep thinking and secretive Scorpio – at least that’s what all the books say about your sign. I would rather suggest that you are extremely self-protective and tend to take things to heart and digest them in private. You are very passionate about the things that you hold dear – people, ideas and life-styles – and will readily take a stand against any threat from outsiders who don’t agree with your choices.

Some Scorpios prefer to fight their battles through the written word, rather than physically – believing that the pen is mightier than the sword. And when Scorpio puts fingers to keyboard (the modern equivalent) those words can really pack a punch. It has been described as a black belt in verbal karate – just remember that the moment you go for revenge, you’ve lost the battle.

The major theme for you through 2008/09 is that of Saturn moving through your Solar Eleventh house of your social life, making you question whether your friends support you or not. Over this next year you may meet a whole new group of people who fulfill your new ideas about yourself in a more meaningful and realistic way. Certainly they will make you examine your ideals and objectives for your future, and ensure that you come to a mature decision about which direction you want your life to follow and who you want to accompany you along the way.

The other major and more long term theme is that of Pluto your co-ruler moving into Capricorn and bringing a strong urge to communicate more effectively, perhaps even teach and certainly write – however as it’s a 17 year journey, you’ve got plenty of time!

********************************************

Your co-ruling planet Mars sits in Scorpio until mid-November. This means that whatever you want is yours for the getting – yes, you do have to put an effort in, but that’s OK. Mars is the planet of action – simply sitting on your beam end wishing for things to go your way is not going to produce the goods that you want so much.

You may find that during this period your ego is very strong and making demands on others – it could actually get in the way, as they will waste your time engaging you in petty arguments that go nowhere except down the drain. Best to use your ego to focus on yourself and start motoring – the song “When the going gets tough, the tough get going” was written for you at this time.

At the end of November Pluto enters Capricorn for about 17 years – see above. Now it may seem a little tricky to get your head around if you’re not an astrologer, but Capricorn traditionally is suggested to be the best sign for your other planet, Mars to be found. This is due to the focus and discipline of Capricorn containing Mars’ more rash tendencies and thus enabling them to be expressed more effectively. With both these guys coming together at the end of December, in Capricorn, this could herald a period of extremely focused work which has the potential to move your life a few notches towards your ultimate goals.

There will be a great deal of writing, short journeys and communications undertaken during this first month of the New Year. You feel as if you are running just to keep up and may need to watch your stress levels – best to join a gym and use some of the energy to burn off the excesses of the Festive season.

Never mind the credit crunch, Scorpio is very canny around money and very rarely loses out completely. Something always seems to come along and save your day – usually in the guise of opportunity – so you have to work for it. However, the Phoenix is another symbol for your sign, and rising from the ashes is something that you have a real talent for. And January might be one of those times.

The Solar Eclipse in Aquarius occurs very close to Jupiter, the Celestial Good Guy, and falls in the domestic area of your chart – so family matters will be highlighted. Sacrifices will be made through the first half of 2009 and home routines may be changed suddenly as a parent needs to come and live with you for a while, for example – or an adult offspring boomerangs home and demands their old room back – the one you had just converted into an office for yourself. As Jupiter rules the two houses on your Solar Chart associated with personal finances and creativity/children, I’ll let you string a meaningful sentence out of that for yourself.

A little known fact about Scorpio is that you are really about relationships – as much as Libra is. When Mars schmoozes up against Venus, as he does through May, June and July, then love could be in the air – or at least lust could be in the air. It will take a while longer, however, to see how it all pans out in the long term.

Career issues emerge through July/August and you may find that you are having confrontations with your boss, who seems to expect a lot of you. A real clash of egos could ensue, but if you can both clear the air, you might find that a real change in your working status results.

Through September/October 2009 you may decide to take on further studies that broaden your perspectives and offer you more bargaining power on your career ladder. Also it could be a good time to take a break and have a much needed stress relieving holiday. Scorpios are never really good at playing – so maybe you should just give it a whirl.
