Surviving Uncertainty

I have been thinking for some time now that I could offer some words to help alleviate some of your anxieties by encouraging you to approach your daily life with some equanimity, rather than feeling out of control in these challenging present circumstances.

Has it ever occurred to you that there may be a reason for all of these events to be clustering together at this particular time? Why are they? What does it mean? And yes, these particular planetary meetings (of Uranus/Mars/Pluto) have happened before at times of great political stress and worldwide chaos – in the early 1930s, the mid-60s, and now. This set me thinking and I started to wonder how my blog would be received if I began to enlighten you about the fact that the planets are all intelligences – even our own Earth. and how would it be if I said to you that we don’t have to react as they did back then – we can start with a clean slate and begin to think and behave differently, each of us from our Higher Self.

Certainly ancient humans believed this and revered the planets as Gods. They thanked the planets for guiding them and tried to understand what was being asked of them spiritually.

The planets represent energy in its purest form – transpersonal qualities that we close our eyes to when we feel stressed by life out there. And yet it is important to be aware that the planets are never out to get us. I have heard people blaming their natal planets for their misfortunes. And I know it is too easy to look outside ourselves and cause our own pain and stress by falling into negative imagination. Then all we see is the worst possible scenarios as the inevitable outcome of these present circumstances. If we can understand these wise intelligences orbiting through our lives, we will learn so much from them.

So, if we are living with uncertainty we need to keep our eyes open for new opportunities. If one appears, then examine it and see if it’s a good fit for you. If you are in a secure position then you will never look around at life “out there” and something within you closes down. You become stuck in your certainty and miss an opportunity to be in connection with your heart. As the Israeli poet Yehuda Amichai said “From the place where we are right, flowers will never grow in the spring.”

We fall asleep when we stop engaging with real life and our hearts begin to wither a little. The moment we fall in love; have a great idea and work with it; or hold a flower in our hand; then we get a real surge of energy from Mars, the activator. And that is Mars in his purest form – action, focus and initiative. Uranus’ purest form is invention, clarity of vision and the unexpected. Pluto’s transforming aspect is that which creates a butterfly from a caterpillar, transition and rediscovery. We can even make up different sentences using a blend of each planetary energy in their purest forms, of course, and learn much about our lives right now and what the theme running through them means for each one of us.

Put like that, they don’t seem so bad – it is we that make them so, by fearing the worst. When we are afraid, we forget to love, we retract and become small and withered. And yet, each of us has a choice in how we react.

My question is this – how can we ensure that we act from the best in ourselves and enable those whom we love the most the possibility to do the same thing?
